Question: I have an enclosed porch. How should it be valued. It is not heated.


Answer: Heated space is treated different than non-heated space. Non heated space is valued at a much lower rate. This is an error that occurs often during a blanket revaluation when measurements are taken for the perimeter of a home. Often an unheated enclosed garage, enclosed poarch, sun room, attached storage shed, green house plant growing area is measured and totaled with the heated square footage.

Below is an example that happened to someone who did not check what the authorities measured. Apparently the square foot figures where merely rolled over from one period to the next.
